I received the most fantastic email from Amanda last November….
“Hi Renee! I came across your profile on facebook and think you do amazing work. My fiance and I are getting married on May 21, 2010 and are looking for a photographer. We love your free-spirited approach and would love to speak with you if you are available for that day. It would only be family pictures before the reception – and lots of pics of us – and some pictures of friends etc. at the reception (we are getting married at the courthouse earlier that day…”
I was GIDDY! We met, had an adventure of an engagement session, and then it was May!
Oak…
Amanda… *sigh*
I was fanatic about Amanda’s dress, it had pockets.
Oak + Amanda have the most relaxed style. Our time together was comfortable, without rush or stress. It was ideal for our style of photography.
Smiles…
One of my favorites from the day. It might be the light or their casual style, I’m not sure.
A special thanks to my friend Betsy Branscombe for giving me all the goods as far as locations. Because of her I’ve shot in places no other photographer gets too!
A dreamy flower shot…
Look closely, that is rosemary in her bouquet. It was such an expected pleasant thing to smell throughout our day together. I love fresh herbs. There might be a few other greens in there as well…
And then there were bikes….
This was such a FUN part of the day. Oak + Amanda love bike riding so it only made sense to include that love in their day together.
Oak tried to grab Amanda’s hand but she was not having it, falling off a bike on your wedding day would not be that awesome.

Their wedding party of two…and one was wearing a leisure suit. Yeah.
Finding good light is a passion of ours. So when I find that perfect light, I feel inspired, I feel connected to something bigger than myself. As strange as it sounds, its a holy moment for me.
And I felt it, under this bridge, I felt a holy connection. And I look back at that time and am thankful. He’s singing to his bride and her expression of joy just speaks to me, and I hope to you.
And lastly, Oak’s family has this bizarre and completely incredible collection of hats. So of course, we included them in the reception.

Oak + Amanda, We cannot fully express how grateful we are for getting to take your photographs. Thank you for your passion and joy for life, and your ability in include everyone around you in that joy.
Peace.
